The Mitta Valley is one of the most scenic valleys in Victoria with wooded mountains and narrow vales that offer a tranquillity that is hard to find anywhere.
Bharatralia Jungle Camp is situated in a secret place surrounded by bush teeming with wildlife but only 2 km from the hamlet of Mitta Mitta. Morning bush walks are a feature. For the totally relaxed, just sit outside your tent and soak in the atmosphere, doze or read a book. If the weather is inclement you can adjourn to the "Shikar Lodge" where you can lounge in comfort, beside a wood fire.
Our newly built thatch roofed hut sits over the water and has four hammock chairs suspended from the roof. A great place to relax at sunset with a few drinks
Your accommodation consists of luxurious weather-proof tents with a large permanent fly providing a verandah. The tents have carpeted floors, real beds, fresh linen with cosy doonas, extra blankets, cane furniture and 12volt bedside light. Choose your tent with either single or double bed. Get that feeling of being on an adventure in some exotic location.
A separate hot shower and flush toilet not far from your tent adds the final touch to your deluxe facilities.
The Jungle Camp opened in Spring 1999 with an idea of duplicating the tented camps in the national parks in India. Being born in India, and having a love of wildlife, it was easy for Chris Otto to realise his vision of a similar camp. A mixture of Australian and Indian wildlife is on display and guests are encouraged to partcipate in the feeding and handling of them.
A fully equipped kitchen is provided for your use, wood barbeques adjacent to your tent gives the real camping flavour. A huge open fire and barbeque facility on the bank of the dam allows for group barbecues.
Mitta Mitta has a golf course, tennis courts, general store, hotel, airstrip and a disused open cut gold mine that was once one of the largest of its kind in the world. Lake Dartmouth together with the river and adjacent streams offer magnificent boating and trout fishing.
